The severity of the Covid-19 disease (infectious disease caused by the corona virus) depends on the amount of virus that enters the patient’s body (viral load).
The air around the corona patient is contaminated as a result of exhaling and expelling viral particles, and rebreathing this air can lead to the return of the virus to the patient’s lungs.
In order to prevent patients from breathing in their own contaminated exhalation, Dr. Peter McCullough, an eminent American cardiologist, and his colleagues have recommended the following points in an article published in The American Journal of Medicine:
- Ventilate the patient’s room by opening the door and windows.
- The patient should not use a mask in his room, because it will lead to continuous breathing of his contaminated exhalation (obviously, in this situation, the patient should be isolated and the people around the patient should use a mask).
